Everything

It’s noble. And we strive to cover all the bases. A release party for Elizabeth Earley’s debut novel A Map of Everything happening this weekend, The Sax Man debuting at the CIFF, and the Hidden Mother being revealed at the Cleveland Print Room. All this, but still we don’t pretend to cover everything.

Instead, we curate just the coolest stuff: the new NEOCycle bike festival, United Way’s Rock the Catwalk, comedian Chelsea Peretti at the Grog, Imagine, Dare To Fly at Cleveland School of the Arts. The best way to get it all? Try the Cool Cleveland mobile and you could win a priceless t-shirt. Not everything, but maybe just what you need. –Thomas Mulready

Great books, music and art have a transcendental ability to change something inside the reader/listener/viewer. You start the book as one person, but you’re a different person after you’ve finished it.

This is true of Elizabeth Earley’s debut novel A Map of Everything, which will hold a release party Sat 3/29 @ Loganberry Books w/ musician Diana Chittester & poet William Evans…

SPACES Gallery Welcomes Its New SWAP Resident
Pavlina Mladenova from Bulgaria

Cool Cleveland correspondent Marty Bielat sat down with Mladenova and picked her brain on her artwork, her past, and on what her plans are while she’s in town. Mladenova arrived in Cleveland earlier this week straight from Bulgaria and is slowly adjusting to life in the 216.

A breath of fresh air. Mladenova’s art certainly is unique and easily identifiable when compared to other artists. The use of data, analyses, surveys and mathematical compositions are in the norm when looking at some of her previous projects. This world traveling artist comes to Cleveland after a long stay in South Korea, in a similar residency program, where she studied when South Koreans have their first contact with art.

For more news make sure that you stay tuned to the artist, SPACES, as well as Cool Cleveland. Good luck Pavlina!

The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity
Brings The Karamu House Down

CoolCleveland correspondent Marty Bielat got the inside scoop from the show’s carpenter/actor Prophet Seay. Prophet really brought the glam and color of the wrestling show business to the stage at Karamu, and you can just feel the energy emanating from the set.

It’s hilarious but also moving. Witness a performance that will not only have you laughing the night away, but also leave you thinking. The story of a wrestling duo overcoming oppressive stereotyping, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is showing at the Karamu House through this weekend.

Get your tickets now! Be sure to follow Karamu House and Cool Cleveland for more news on the performance. Break a leg guys!

Melancholy children stare uneasily out, their eyes void of passion, their faces bereft of emotion. Behind each, a faceless figure materializes, lurking, hidden but watching vigilantly. Occasionally a hand crops up, clutching the child, holding on for dear life.

Hidden mother photography of the 19th century was born out of a sort of necessity…
