Moms Demand Action Present Screening at CSU of Film at About “Stand Your Ground” Type Shooting

Wed 12/6 @ 6PM

The local branch of the national organization, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, is hosting a free film screening of the 2015 documentary 3 1/2 minutes, 10 Bullets.

It deals with the 2012 shooting of a Florida teenager, Jordan Davis, in a gas station by a stranger who took offense at the loud rap music coming from a car Davis was riding in and opened fire on it. He later tried to claim he believed the kids had a shotgun.

Filmmaker Marc Silver explores the incident as well as the trial and protests that grew out of it, relating it to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law which famously led to the death of another teen, Trayvon Martin. (Unlike in that case, Davis’ killer was eventually convicted of first-degree murder after several mistrials). It received a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

The film screens at Cleveland State University’s Fenn Tower. Stick around afterward for a discussion with Lucy McBath, Jordan Davis’ mother who has become a gun safety advocate, and local community leaders in the fight for rational gun safety regulations.
