Three Local Poets Share Their Work at Mac’s Backs in Coventry Village

Sat 3/3 @ 7PM

Come spend a peaceful, cerebral Saturday evening downstairs at Mac’s Backs Books in Coventry Village, where three locally based poets will be reading their work.

British-born queer Muslim poet Kazim Ali (pictured) blends Indian, Iranian and Egyptian heritage giving him an interesting background to fuel his volumes of poetry and essays and his novels. He’s currently currently an associate professor of creative writing and comparative literature at Oberlin College.

Lynn Powell also teaches at Oberlin where she is director of Oberlin WITS (Writers in the Schools), in which Oberlin students teach creative writing in local schools. She has written three books of poetry and been published in many journals and anthologies.

And finally, Chanda Feldman’s work has also appeared in many journals, but she just recently published her debut collection, Approaching the Fields. in which she reflects in her childhood, including her memories of segregation, sharecropping and the days following Dr. King’s assassination.

The reading is free and open to the public.
