Arts Activist Shares Her Work With Black Youth

Thu 3/11 @ 4-5PM

Amanda D. King founded Shooting Without Bullets about five years ago, initially to provide youth in the city with a way of expressing their feelings about their lives and their surroundings and sharing their voices in the community, primarily through photography.

Since then, the nonprofit organization has expanded to become a “creative agency and production company,” which uses a full range of the arts to give Black young people the tools to advocate for social and racial justice

Learn more about the expanding organization when King hosts a Zoom presentation that looks at the past work of Black artists, activists and community organizers in Cleveland, shares the background of SWOB’s “In Our DNA” project and connects it with other activist initiatives. You’ll learn more from her about the work SWOB is doing to engage young people and teach them to be advocates for change. She’ll include some of the powerful visuals that have become the hallmark of the organization’s work.

The event is free and open to all. Go here to register.
