It seems like everybody these days wants to get in on the idea of refashioning the old-style flea market into a sleek, new entity that features artists, artisans and local food producers, with additional activities such as live music, DJs, beer gardens, yoga classes and workshop that make them destination hangouts and not just shopping opportunities.
The latest city in the region to launch one is Youngstown, where the Youngstown Flea in its first season. It features local and regional vendors of handmade and vintage items including furniture, home décor, jewel, clothing and collectibles. If you’re from Cleveland, you’ll discover vendors from the Mahoning Valley area that you don’t see at the Cleveland Flea.
Future dates this season are 8/20, 9/24 and 10/22. The Youngstown Flea takes place downtown next to the Covelli Center. It’s free.
