If you’re brave enough to make your way downtown while the Republican National Convention is going on, here’s another interesting thing to attend. The Cleveland Public Library is hosting its first-ever America’s Civic Square discussion series for the four days the convention is in session.

Monday’s topic is “Who Is Being Left Out of Cleveland’s Renaissance?” The focus is on inclusion — and exclusion — in northeast Ohio. Speakers include Policy Matters Ohio’s Zach Schiller, filmmaker Kate Sopko and Daniel Gray-Kontar of the Twelve Literary and Performing Arts Incubator in the Waterloo Arts District.

Tuesday’s panel will talk about “What Women Really Want From Their Candidates,” with speakers Margaret Mitchell, president/CEO of the YWCA greater Cleveland; Susan Murnane, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland; and Policy Matters Ohio’s outreach director Daniel Ortiz.

Wednesday’s guests — Global Cleveland’s Joe Cimperman and HOLA’s Veronica Dahlberg (pictured) — will take on the hot button topic of “Immigration in America.” And finally on Thursday regional debate champions will discuss currently news items in the headlines such as gun regulation and “bathroom bills.” All of the events take place at noon except Thursday’s at 1PM in the Eastman Reading Garden of CPL’s Main Library. They’re free.
