The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has packed this summer with more music than ever before, including an expanded Summer in the City series, featuring some of the best local talent. This week, it’s psych-rockers New Planet Trampoline, who emerged about 15 years ago from the so-called Davenport Collective, a shifting group of bands with overlapping members that revolved around a Lakewood recording space.

NPT released a pair of albums, 2204’s Curse of the New Planet Trampoline and 2005’s Blimps & Aeroplanes EP before the band took a hiatus that ended with a reunion show in 2013 when they returned to the scene with a Halloween show where they played Pink Floyd’s Piper at the Gates of Dawn in its entirety, honoring one of their key influences. They put out an EP, Wisconsin Witch House, and then completed an album they’d been working on prior to their hiatus called Dark Rides and Grim Visions, on which they re-worked and re-recorded those old songs.

Heavenly Queen, an offshoot of the Lottery League metal satire band Queen of Hell, will kick off the free concert, taking place on the Rock Hall plaza, at 6pm. There will be a beer tent and food trucks so you won’t have to go thirsty or hungry.
