The Dazz band were one of Cleveland’s success stories. Formed as the Kinsman Dazz Band on Cleveland’s east side in the mid ’70s, they absorbed the funkified R&B of the era that was making people dance and spit it back out in the form of hits like Grammy-winning “Let It Whip” and “Joystick.”

The group petered out by the late ’80s, although founding member Bobby Harris has continued on playing the group’s hits on the oldies circuit. But a few years ago, another core early member guitarist Michael Calhoun got the itch to hear the old songs performed by a full band again. He assembled some of the old members and some new musicians to recapture the big sound the band originally had.

You can catch them at Euclid Beach Park’s summer concert series. Bring chairs or blankets and a picnic if you choose. There will be food trucks on site too. It’s free.
