Cool Stuff Created for the RNC That Clevelanders Can Enjoy Too!

RNCClevelandSigns

Just when you’ve taken a breath from all the Cavs Celebrations, in rolls the 2016 RNC to downtown Cleveland, adding all the frenzy of the parade multiplied by 10, complete with a week’s worth of road closures, military presence, national and international news outlets, and more.

On the flip side, the RNC has given local businesses an awesome opportunity to gain some national attention (and hopefully, revenue) for their items with some pretty cool and creative offerings from food and drink, to art and apparel with everything in between.

Here’s a short list of some items spotted just in time for the RNC, a few that are here just for the convention, others here to stay for the long haul.

City-selfies — Take a pic with one of the newly installed Cleveland script signs. There are two at Edgewater and North Coast Harbor and the third off Abby Road.  With instant profile picture abilities, we are hoping these babies stay around for a while.

RNCFigures

Snails, wolves, and frogs – oh my!  You can thank the Milan-based Cracking Art Group for the recent invasion of  brightly colored oversized animals across the city. Clevelanders can expect huge vibrant friends to add a dash of color to the downtown scene during the RNC.

RNCLovelace

Timely Art — Be sure to take a trip to the Waterloo Arts District and stop by Maria Neil Art Project. We The People by Michelangelo Lovelace is a “politically timely (and timeless) work” that has received a national recognition.  For info and gallery hours,  call 216.481.7722 or visit marianeilartproject.com.

RNCTshirts

They went to the RNC and all I got was a T-shirt. It’s no surprise local T-shirt companies joined in the RNC excitement with some awesome design to commemorate this week’s festivities.  Check out GV Art + Design and Tour de Cleveland for these styles and more.

RNCSweets

Sweet Eats — Our hometown bakeries and eateries have been busy with some creative eats for the RNC.  If you’re lucky, you may catch a few politically inspired cupcakes from Simply Michele’s Cookies & Cupcake Boutique (5522 Turney Road, Garfield Heights), a star-spangled bundt cake from Have A Slice Cakes  or the candidate-inspired cupcakes and other treats from Fear’s Confections.  These  brilliant babies, complete with “hair” have gained quite a few fans.

RNCComics

And the “C” is for Cartoon and Comic — The current issue of Cleveland Scene Magazine “dons” a coloring book, making the election cycle a little lighter and a stress reliever at the same time.   If coloring isn’t your thing (we won’t judge), check out the RNC Captain America-themed coins and comic books from Carol and John’s Comics at Kamms Corner.  The best part?  All proceeds from the RNC Captain America items will go to charity.

There you have it, a few great ways to support small business, celebrate your hometown all while taking part of the RNC — from afar. Enjoy!
