One of Cleveland’s most enjoyable summer events – and one more of the many things you can do absolutely free — is Opera in the Italian Garden at the Italian Cultural Garden in Rockefeller Park.
Bring a blanket, bring a chair (although some are provided, unless you get down early, you might want to bring your own because a lot of people show up). Most important, bring a picnic basket with an Italian-style snack to set the mood — some wine, some bread, some cheese, maybe a nice Italian sausage — plant yourself under a tree, spread it out, and enjoy the ambience of one of the most spectacular of the many ethnic gardens in the park.
The featured singers from Opera Circle Cleveland will perform classic arias most people will recognize, along with some traditional Italian tunes. For those that don’t want to tote a picnic, there’ll be wood-fired pizza and Italian gelato available for purchase.
