BOP STOP presents a Glam Brunch that traces music from the transgressive underground art scene of Andy Warhol and proto-punk Akron & Detroit to London, New York and the world.

Following up on their sold-out series of events celebrating David Bowie, CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready and crew now focus their mascaraed eyes on the trail blazed by Glam rockers from Elvis & Little Richard to Bowie & Bolan, from Andy Warhol & Lou Reed to Suzi Quatro & Joan Jett, from the New York Dolls & Sex Pistols to nine inch nails & The Cure, from Patti LaBelle & Donna Summer to Parliament/Funkadelic and Boy George, from Queen & Madonna to Sia, Lorde & Lady Gaga.

The trail follows Noel Coward to John Cage to Little Richard to Iggy Pop to Rocky Horror to DEVO to Jacques Brel to David Bowie to Mott The Hoople to The Clash to the Runaways to the Sex Pistols to The Cure to hair metal to Queen to nine inch nails to techno to ABBA to Prince to Madonna to U2 to Arcade Fire to Green Day to Sia to Lorde to Lady Gaga.

As entertaining as it is enlightening, this interactive presentation is a cure for ADD that moves at lightning speed offers a blitzkrieg bop of seminal video clips, needle drops by DJ JD, trivia contests, giveaways and sing-alongs. The show concludes with a live music showcase by Cleveland glam-punk superstars Vanity Crash performing originals from their 2015 release LOVE, plus select glam favorites. With more than a few costume changes along the way.

We’re calling it: Glam! Bam! Thank You Ma’am: From Lady Stardust to Lady Gaga. And yes, the show will have a section on Prince (you’re the fourth person to ask today), since he epitomizes the Glam persona: overt sexuality, thunderous beats, transgressive politics, anthemic songwriting, bizarre theatricality, a party that never ends. It all takes place at the BOP STOP on Sun 6/5 at Noon, and brunch is available.

About the BOP STOP:  Owned and managed by The Music Settlement, founded in 1912 to provide music therapy, early childhood education and music instruction to people of all ages and levels of expertise. So, when you buy tickets, food or drink at the BOP STOP, your purchase helps to support The Music Settlement and its many programs. Innovative food service is provided by Cleveland Culinary Launch and Kitchen to showcase local chefs and local food. Featuring tiered seating and an open floor plan, there’s not a bad seat in the house. They also have a free parking lot adjacent to the building. Alums include singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, “The Soloist” Nathaniel Ayers, violinist and conductor Jamie Laredo, and former St. Louis Orchestra concertmaster Melvin Ritter.
