The week, the Cleveland Orchestra takes on the music from Igor Stravinsky’s Russian folklore-based ballet The Firebird, which debuted in 1910 and has been a favorite of concert and dance audiences ever since with its indelible melodies and epic scope.

The Suite from The Firebird headlines the program, which also includes Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring Kirill Gerstein, and Zoltán Kodály’s Dances of Galánta. Young Colombian conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, conducts.

The orchestra will perform the full program Thursday and Saturday evenings. On Friday morning and evening, it will play only the Stravinsky and Rachmaninoff pieces. Friday evening is one of its Fridays @7 concerts, which features a no-intermission orchestra performance, pre-concert world music, and a post-concert afterparty in the Severance Hall lobbies with food, drink and music.

Tickets are $29-$162.
