The Cleveland Asian Festival Offers a Taste of Many Cultures

Cleveland Asian Festival

Sat 5/21-Sun 5/22 @ 11AM-7PM

Cleveland’s Asian population has become more and more diversified over the years, which is why the tiny former Chinatown is now the sprawling Asiatown, with Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian and more represented in its restaurants, groceries, bar, shops, churches, social services organizations — and residents.

The Cleveland Asian Festival was launched in 2010 to celebrate all that diversity and share it with the larger community. That year 10,000 people attended; last year 45,000 did. If the weather cooperates, it’s likely more than 50,000 will make their way to the intersection of E 30th and Payne, where organization information booths, vendors, stages, food stations, displays and play areas will be set up on the street and in adjacent parking lots.

Sample a variety of Asian cuisines; catch performers ranging from dancers to martial arts artists to drummers. Put on a fat suit and try some sumo wrestling or cheer the contestants in the K Pop Cover Dance competition or the egg roll eating contest. Get a full list of exhibitors, vendors and performers here. It’s all free.
