Wed 5/18 @ 6PM

Fri 5/20-Sat 6/4

South Africa’s Blessing Ngobeni is one of the current crop of Cleveland Foundation Creative Fusion artists who have been working here for the last couple of months. And Ngobeni has created fusion work indeed: blending his African sensibility with the vibe he’s picked up while in northeast Ohio. The result is colorful, action-filled collage/paintings packed with the brim with the struggles, the excitement and the diversity of urban life — Johannesburg meets Cleveland.

The exhibit In Unknown Space: The Work of Blessing Ngobeni at the Cleveland Print Room will offer a look at the work he’s made during his stay here. In addition to Ngobeni’s work, there’ll be a display of mask self-portraits created by 4th and 8th graders at the Scranton and Walton schools under the director of the Cleveland Print Room ad Ngobeni.

It opens with a reception Fri 5/20 from 5-8pm, with a gallery talk Sat 5/21 @ 1pmfor those who are intrigued and want to know more. The exhibit will be up through Sat 6/4. It’s free and open to the public. There’s also a members preview at the Cleveland Print Room Wed 5/18 @ 6pm; non-members can attend for $5.
