One of the signature events of the annual Hessler Street Fair is its poetry contest, leading to the poetry reading at the Fair, which takes place 5/21-22. It’s in the hippie/beatnik DNA of the event whose lineage stretches back to the 1960s.
During March, submissions were solicited and now those who submitted get to perform for a panel of judges at the Barking Spider Tavern. After the readings are completed, the judges will announce three winners to get cash prizes and read their poems at the Fair. It’s free to come and listen and try to sway the judges. No, they cannot be bought!
