Sheepdogs

Sun 5/8 @ 8PM

The Sheepdogs are one of those basic rock and roll bands Canada is so good at producing, whose music is anonymous or universal, depending on your viewpoint. It’s guitar-driven rock that’s driving without being overly heavy, enhancing with vocal harmonies that are pretty without being too sweet.

Formed in 2006 in the musical non-hotspot of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the ensemble has release five albums including last year’s Future Nostalgia, and built a fan base through heavy touring. They landed on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2011 and of course, they’ve won a ton of Juno awards, Canada’s Grammy equivalent. And their fourth 2012 self-titled album, produced by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, went platinum in Canada.

They’ll be at the Kent Stage with Brooklyn’s Mail the Horse opening. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
