Speakeasy Spectacular Wrestling Gets a Chokehold @Mahalls20Lanes

Speakeasy

Fri 4/29 @ 7PM

Back in the day when WWF (now WWE) wrestling was taking over big arena with its slick product, some of the most fun wrestling cards could be found in venues like local nightclubs, where local and regional wrestlers could be hilariously entertaining without benefit of expensive costumes and staged interviews with lots of star filter.

That’s still where you’ll probably have the most fun, where you’re so close to the performers you can smell the sweat (and sometimes the flying sweat beads land on your clothes) and feel the “swoosh” as one wrestling hits another with a folding chair. If that’s your kind of wrestling, you’ll want to head to Mahall’s 20 Lanes for Olde Wrestling’s Speakeasy Spectacular.

You’ll see “world champion” (how many hundreds of them are there?) Matthew Cross, the Bearded Lady, Marion Fontaine, Gregory Iron, Judge Hugo Lexington, Heidi the Riveter, the Jollyville Jeeper, “Felino de Rojo” Louis Lyndon, and Cleveland’s Pinch and Squeal vaudeville duo who, presumably, will not be wrestling.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
