Lake Erie Ink and Literary Cleveland are celebrating National Poetry Month with a pair of back-to-back events for the poetically inclined.

On Friday they’re holding a Power of Poetry open mic at Ensemble Theatre’s Playground Theatre, open to teens and adults. Everyone is invited to come, armed with songs, poems and stories — or to write one on the spot. It’s free. And there will be pizza!

On Saturday, they will offer all-ages workshops in conjunction with Literary Cleveland called “Writing for Change: The Power of Poetry.” They’ll explore how poetry can be used to transform ourselves and our communities. Poets Michael Saliner and Sara Holbrook will host the youth workshops, while Mary Quade, Eris Eady and Catherine Wing will lead the teen/adult ones.  It’s $5 for youth/teens, $15 for adults, and $12.75 for Literary Cleveland members. That’ll take place at Lake Erie Ink’s space in the former Coventry School building.
