Cle Americana Quartet the Railshakers Releases CD at the Barking Spider

Railshakers

Fri 4/29 @ 8PM

One of Cleveland’s newer roots rock/alt-country ensembles is the Railshakers, a quartet that describes themselves as “Country with a classically-trained violinist. Folk with a Bonham-inspired drummer. Rockabilly with a tattoo-deficient guitarist/singer. Rock with a bassist who yearns to play ‘Pig In a Pen’.”

With Kristine Jares, who’s played groups ranging from party/swamp rockers Cats on Holiday to aggressive underground band Coltrane Wreck, on violin and vocals, Michael Harvan on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Thorburn Miller on bass and vocals and Christian Celleghin on drums and percussion, the group features three-part harmonies topping music that’s both tough and appealingly melodic.

The group will release its first CD, featuring a dozen original tunes, at a release party at the Barking Spider. It’s free; the club passes a hat for the musicians. And of course, you can always buy a CD from them.
