Acclaimed Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s 2004 psychological thriller Shining City hasn’t been performed in this area before. But the Beck Center is remedying this with its regional premiere of the work, which is set in Dublin and concerns a troubled widower who sees the ghost of his wife. Actress Bernadette Clemens, who has been seen on numerous area stages including the Beck’s, comes back to direct the play which will be presented in the intimate Studio Theater.
“McPherson is a known playwright, and audiences will walk into the Studio Theater assured of his proven gifts,” says Clemens. “What they may not be prepared for is this gem of a play.”
It runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm And Sundays at 2pm through May 1.
