PHOTOSTREAM: Cornucopia/Nature’s Bin Annual Meeting Celebrates 40 Lifechanging Years

Tue 3/22

Celebrating 40 years, Lakewood natural and organic grocery Nature’s Bin and parent company Cornucopia celebrated with a delightful lunch, catered, of course, by Nature’s Bin Catering staff.

Few are aware that the real mission behind Cornucopia is helping the developmentally challenged with the basic skills needed to hold down a job and gain some independence. They work at Nature’s Bin and are trained for retail, housekeeping and food service jobs at partner companies such as TJ Maxx, Darice (Pat Catan’s), Eliza Jennings and others.

At the annual meeting, awards were presented for outstanding achievement: Andre Howard was hired in the kitchen at Heinen’s and recently re-located to their showcase store downtown; Antonio Love has been hired and promoted at the Jennings Center; Candice Odum now works at Eliza Jennings; and Mike Simpson won the Lifetime Achievement award for his 30 years of employment at Rini-Rego’s, which became Stop-n-Shop, which became Giant Eagle. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
