Two Abstract Painters Featured in New Shows at the 2731 Prospect Gallery

LooneyCrockett

Fri 2/12 @ 6-9PM

The next shows at the 2731 Prospect Gallery feature a pair of artists most Clevelanders aren’t familiar with yet, although both have extensive resumes.

Alan Crockett is a professor emeritus at the Ohio State University who now splits his time between Columbus and New York. His show, Looney Tunes, features his colorful, large-scale abstract paintings in which “mismatched shapes and colors bump against each other in a playful Rube Goldberg manner where the accidental and the deliberate exist in the same oddly defined space.”

Opening the same night is Ian Hagarty’s Temperature Reset, paintings based on geometric figures, assembled to create flat-appearing fields that merge rich, deep colors in a dark palette. Hagarty is an associate professor at Marshall University, School of Art & Design — College of Arts & Media in Huntington, West Virginia.

Hagarty will be at the gallery for an artist talk Sat 2/13 @ 2pm; Crockett will do an artist talk on Sat 3/13 @ 2pm. The show runs through Fri 3/19.
