Packy Malley has already set the dates for his annual Mid West Reggae Fest — July 29-31 — but Packy being Packy, he’s not waiting until summer to throw a big reggae party.
In honor of what would have been reggae legend Bob Marley’s 71st birthday, he’s hosting the Winter Reggae Fest at his new bar, Packy Malley’s, on Waterloo Road. For the occasion, he’ll present a Cleveland legend and a redhot Florida band. Sharing the stage will be I-Tal, the band which first brought traditional roots reggae to Cleveland rock audiences in the late ’70s, and SOWFLO, a modern rock/reggae-style band in the traditional of a party bands like Sublime.
The event will also feature Jamiacan food, art, vendors and Bob Marley movies. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. It’s all ages.
If there’s not enough party for you at Packy’s — although we don’t see why there wouldn’t be — the Reggae Party Bus will be shuttling people between Waterloo Road, the ABC Tavern on West 25th and the Ontario Lounge on Public Square between 7pm and 1:45AM. It’s free.
