She’s baaaaaack. And Cleveland Orchestra patrons are undoubtedly rejoicing. Pianist/conductor Mitsuko Uchida has become a huge favorite in these parts, playing and conducting Mozart, Mozart and still more Mozart.
From 2002-2007 Uchida was artist in residence at the Cleveland Orchestra, during which time she performed and conducted all 27 Mozart piano concertos, later recording them with the Orchestra for the second time. She won a Grammy for one of those recordings. She’s been back many times since, always greeted warmly.
This time she’ll perform an all-Mozart program featuring concertos. No 17 and No. 25, along with his Symphony No. 34, led by concertmaster William Preucil. Tickets are $29-$149.
