Mosey on over to the Coit Road Farmers Market, which is open from 8am-1pm every Saturday year round. Check out the vendors, and then head over to the kitchen area where the biweekly free cooking demonstration will be taking place, starting at 11am.
This week you’ll learn what’s involved in making a pie crust that’s airy and perfect, neither gooey nor crumbly. They’ll show you how to make a crust with butter or lard or, if you’re vegan, with coconut oil. Then they’ll make pot pies for lunch featuring vegetables from the market. How can you resist?
On Sat 2/20, the demonstration will teach you to make your own pierogies from scratch; Sat 3/5, you can learn how to use a pressure cooker; and on Sat 3/19 — vegans, beware! — pick up on the basics of sausage-making. Put those on your calendar.
