Husband-and-Wife Piano & Flute Duo Perform @EJThomasHall for Tuesday Musical Association

Marina

Tue 2/9 @ 7:30PM

Flutist Marina Piccinini and pianist Andreas Haeflinger are a Juilliard-trained, critically acclaimed husband-and-wife duo who have established reputations as soloists as well as together. They’ll be performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. this week for the Washington Performing Arts Virtuoso Series where they’ll play Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Flute and Piano in D Major, contemporary composer Marc-Andre Dalbavie’s Nocturn, Cesar Franck’s Sonata for Flute and Piano in A Major and Pierre Boulez’s Sonatine for Flute and Piano.

Why do we mention this? Because you don’t have to fly to D.C. to hear this concert. They duo will perform the same program at Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall two days earlier as part of the Tuesday Musical Association series. George Pope, professor emeritus of flute at the University of Akron and flute instructor at Baldwin-Wallace University, will give the pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25-$45, which is a lot cheaper than a trip to D.C.
