Columbus-based Red Wanting Blue is one of those sleeper bands that really hasn’t had a big breakout moment in its 20 years together but rather has slowly assembled an impressive base for its very mainstream, accessible melodic pop/rock through constant touring, festival and TV appearances, and a steady stream of album releases with seldom more than two years between releases. Little America came out in 2014, so they should be due for a new one soon. Their serviceable music may never make them superstars, but they’re the kind of band that makes and hold on to fans for the long run.
They’re back in northeast Ohio at the Kent Stage with Columbus’ Nick D & the Believers opening. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
