Canton’s Oddmall Art and Craft Fair has oodles of vendors selling strange and macabre handmade things, antiques and found objects. If you’re into things a little too edgy to be found in a regular store, you’ll go crazy shopping at this two-day extravaganza, which takes place at Canton’s Cultural Center for the Arts.
If you go, don’t expect a run-of-the-mill experience that begins and ends with shopping. Calling it an “Emporium of the Weird,” the organizers describe it as “part art fair, part craft show, part comic con, part gaming festival, part cosplay extravaganza, part toy show, part antique show, part vintage fashion show, part geeksplosion, part music fest, part magic show, and part various undefinable othernesses. If it’s fun, artsy, geeky, crafty or odd, chances are it can be found at Oddmall.”
You are encouraged to come in costume — any kind. There will be performers of all types — you might encounter a strolling musician, a juggler, a magician or a dancer around any corner. There will be a sort of festive circus/renaissance fair/carnival atmosphere with lots of hands-on things to do. And although there’s a suggested donation of $5, no one will be turned away because they can’t afford to pay.
