There were eats and drinks and mingling, and up-and-coming Cleveland jazz guitarist Dan Wilson and his trio shared some of their music as Tri-C JazzFest hosted an event at Nighttown to announce the lineup for this year’s event. It will again take place at PlayhouseSquare, but a few weeks earlier than last year, Thu 6/23-Sat 6/25.
The lineup includes a birthday bash for legendary Cleveland-born producer Tommy LiPuma featuring Diana Krall, Leon Russell, Dr. John and Al Jarreau on 6/23; concerts by Chick Corea, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and David Sanborn & Maceo Parker on 6/24; and a powerhouse set of concerts with Cubanismo, Terence Blanchard & the E-Collective, Melissa Aldana & Rosa Passos, Dominick Farinacci, and the usual popular smooth jazz event featuring Lalah Hathaway, BWB and Brian Culberson on 6/26. Cleveland trumpeter Farinacci, now based in New York, will be celebrating the release of his new album, recorded last year at Tri-C’s recording studios.
As in the past two years, there will also be free music outdoors, along with dancing, food and drinks.
Festival passes are available now; single tickets will go on sale 4/8.
