1980s Rocker @RickSpringfield Makes an In-Store Appearance at the Parma Record Exchange

Were you a teenage girl in the early-mid ’80s? Then chances are the name “Rick Springfield” might still make your heart jump a little. The tall, handsome actor/musician simultaneously won hearts playing Dr. Noah Drake on the popular soap opera General Hospital and cranking out hits like “Jesse’s Girl” and “I’ve Done Everything for You” from three platinum albums he released from 1981-83.

Because of his looks and his female fan base, the rocker was stereotyped as a teen idol, but his tough, intense music and his dynamic performances should have given him broader appeal. But the “teen idol” tag is sticky and his chart-topping success was short-lived.

He’s continued to record sporadically, stepping up his output in the last ten years after a relatively fallow ’90s. And he’s even gotten back on the road and done some shows such as the acoustic one he’ll perform at the Hard Rock Rocksino tonight.

But for those of you now in middle age but still harboring that adolescent crush, here’s some exciting news: Springfield will be appearing and doing a short performance at the Record Exchange in Parma and signing advance copies of his new album Rock Science, which comes out on February 19 but which will be available at Record Exchange. The event is free. Come early because space inside is limited.

Contact the Exchange in Parma Heights at 440-845-0828 for more information.
