The @ClevelandPlayHouse Honors Dr. King’s Legacy in ‘The Mountaintop’

Mountaintop

Sat 1/23-Sun 2/14

Just because the holiday dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is over is no reason to stop honoring the incalculable contributions he made to the civil rights movement.

The Cleveland Play House will do so with its upcoming production The Mountaintop, playwright Katori Hall’s 2009 imagining of Dr. King’s last night at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis before he was assassinated. It takes its name from King’s speech with the famous line “I’ve been to the mountaintop” which he delivered that day.

Directed by Carl Cofield, the two-person play features Ro Boddie as Dr. King and Angel Moore as the hotel maid Camae.

There will be a pre-show conversation 45 minutes prior to the each performance in the Outcault Theatre. Tickets are $20-$90.
