Entering his most outrageous and arguably most popular phase as Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie called on the prodigious talents of Mick Ronson from Hull, England, who brought with him drummer Woody Woodmansey, who played on the albums The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and Aladdin Sane, plus live albums of that era. On bass at the time was longtime Bowie producer Tony Visconti, who ended up producing many of Bowie’s seminal albums, including his final LP, Blackstar.

In 2013, Woodmansey was invited to talk at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, and a crack all-star band was pulled together. Soon Woody was playing in that outfit, which they named Holy, Holy after an abandoned Bowie song of the era, and he invited Tony Visconti to recreate the album The Man Who Sold The World, which they had both played on, but never received a full treatment live in concert.

Holy Holy has toured the UK, Japan and is now showcasing across the United States, and they will be featured in an upcoming tribute concert at Carnegie Hall.

CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready interviewed Woody Woodmansey, and you can listen to the complete interview here. Mulready is also presenting Brunch With Bowie at the BOP STOP on Sun 1/24. The 11:30AM brunch is SOLD OUT, but limited tickets remain for the 2PM presentation, with tickets available here. If you have trouble securing tickets, please send a note to Info@CoolCleveland.com.More info:  https://coolcleveland.com/blog/L3Hep
