Pay What You Can & Bring a Can to Can-Can @MaltzMuseum Christmas Day

CanCan

Fri 12/25 @ 11AM-5PM

What’s open on Christmas Day? Chinese restaurants and the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, of course.

The latter is hosting its December 25th Can-Can food drive and festivities. It’s “give what you can, pay what you can,” as the museum invites visitors to bring canned good donations and pay what they can toward museum admission.

When you get there, you can see the current exhibit Violins of Hope, featuring instruments that survived the Holocaust. Trained docents will be on hand to answer questions in the exhibit, which closes January 3. There’ll also be a 2pm screening of Orchestra of Exiles, the story of the founding of what’s now the Israeli Philharmonic in the wake of World War II.

You can also browse the permanent exhibits on contributions made to American culture by the Jewish community and treasures in the Temple-Tifereth Israel Gallery. And for kids, there’ll be make-and-take crafting to keep those idle little hands busy.

The canned goods will be donated to the Semach Sedek R.I.A.S. Kosher Food Bank & Pantry and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Advance reservations are encouraged so they know how much craft material to have on hand, but you’re welcome to just show up as well if you feel the need for community. Call 216.593.0575 or go here.
