Loren Naji’s Art Lounge Shows Small-Scale Works by Scott Pickering

Artist/gallerist/entrepreneur/promoter Loren Naji seems to be a bottomless pit of ideas when it comes to putting together new places and ways to show art.

His latest, which opened in November, is Loren’s Art Lounge, across the street from his LAST bright idea, the Satellite Gallery. It’s just a little room upstairs from Waterloo Arts, one of many along a shabby corridor. Most of the others are painters studios.

But open the door to the Art Lounge and you’ll see worn sofas and chairs and a coffeetable crammed into a tiny room. And on the wall, of course, art — but small-scale artwork in keeping with the size of the room.

This month’s little artworks comprise a show called CRINKLE RUMPUS: A Collection of Bonker Doodle Paintings, by area artist/musician Scott Pickering, known for his whimsical, active style of drawing. So when you come up to the street for Walk All Over Waterloo (and you are, aren’t you?),  stop on up and hang out a while; it’s what that furniture is for. Just look for the inconspicuous door next to Waterloo Arts and follow the creaky staircase to the second floor.
