Sleater-Kinney

Wed 12/9 @ 8PM

Olympia, Washington’s Sleater-Kinney was one of the best known and most beloved of the girl punk bands that came stomping on the scene in the ’90s, emboldened by the grunge/punk explosion that began in the Pacific Northwest and spread across the country. They released seven albums between forming in 1994 and going on hiatus in 2006, exerting an incalculable influence on their generation of punk rockers.

In 2014, the threesome — founders/guitarists/vocalists Carrie Brownstein and Corrin Tucker and drummer Janet Weiss — regrouped to make their eighth album, No Cities to Love, released early this year. They’re now on the road, reintroducing audiences to their probing, take-no-prisoners musical style.

They’ll be at the House of Blues with Alabama-based Waxahatchee, a project of singer/songwriter Katie Crutchfield, opening. Tickets are $28-$32.50.
