A perennial favorite event for families this time of year is the Holiday Circlefest at University Circle. The cold-hardy can enjoy activities on Wade Oval including ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides and ice carving. Those a little less impervious to the weather can visit more than a dozen University Circle institutions and museums for free, where there will be all kinds of special activities, ranging from music and theater performances to crafts to storytelling to live animals to visiting the various attractions at these institutions such as the gingerbread houses at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. The museum stores offer plenty of opportunity to do some holiday shopping too.
The day concludes, as always, with the Cleveland Museum of Art’s dramatic Winter Lights Lantern Procession from 5:30-6:30pm, a spectacular showcase of artist-crafted and homemade lights glittering in the darkness of Wade Oval.
