Are you all by yourself on the holiday with no place to go and you want to do something better than feel sorry for yourself? Or maybe you have a houseful of kids getting underfoot while Thanksgiving dinner is being prepared and grandma is saying “Can’t you take them somewhere until it’s time to eat?” Or perhaps you’re thinking, “I will kick out the TV screen if I have to watch one %#%$@ minute of football.”

There’s a place for you — the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Yes, it’s open today. And even better, it’s free — for everyone. And that includes the Rainforest. Free heated transportation will take you between areas.

Even better than that, there will be special feedings all day so you can watch the animals celebrate too. Get there early if you want to see the lions being fed at the African Savanna at 10am.

The rest of the feeding schedule includes:

10:30 a.m.       Orangutans – The RainForest

11:00 a.m.       Sloth Bears – Wilderness Trek

11:30 a.m.       Swamp Monkeys – Primate, Cat and Aquatics Building

12:00 p.m.       Fossa – Primate, Cat and Aquatics Building

12:30 p.m.       South American Fish – Primate, Cat and Aquatics Building

1:30 p.m.         Francois’ Langurs – The RainForest

2:30 p.m.         Elephants – African Elephant Crossing

3:30 p.m.         Grizzly Bears – Wilderness Trek
