The Akron Art Museum’s annual Island of the Misfit Toys show, based on a concept in the 1964 classic TV special Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
The show gives families the chance to stop in and make art out of broken old toys, transforming them into something new. It also features a display of weird and wonderful toys created both by local school kids and professional artists, transforming blank vinyl toys with decorations and embellishments such as markers, pencils, clay, feathers and found objects.
The show is free with museum admission and runs through the end of February, offering families something fun to do to brighten up those long, cold winter days.
