The Chicago Gypsy Jazz All-Stars Play Cheerful Music @BopStopTMS

ChicagoGypsyAllStars

Sun 12/6 @ 8PM

Guitarst Dani Rabin and sax player Danny Markovitch call themselves the Chicago Gypsy Jazz All-Stars which is actually a trifle misleading. They don’t exactly play what we’ve come to know as “gypsy jazz” during its revival of recent years. In fact, they play what they call “light, cheerful and pleasant” versions of music from the 1920-50s. You might hear pop and jazz classics like “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Smoke Gets in your Eyes,” “Take the A Train,” “Stardust,” “Hello Dolly” and “They Can’t Take That Away,” played with restraint and subtlty by the two musicians.

They’ll perform at BOPSTOP. Tickets are $10.
