Cleveland pop-punk band The Promise Hero has a history that goes way back to the members’ teenage band more than a decade ago. The actual band called The Promise Hero debuted in 2006 and released its first self-titled EP and first full-length album Wait for the Sun two years later. A 2010 EP was a stop-gap in the wait for the next album, Déjà Vu, released in 2013 when the “band” had been pared down to core member, songwriter/vocalist Bobby Vaughn.

He’s continued to use the band name, although it’s now essentially a solo project, with Vaughn continuing to make the same emo-tinged, urgent heartache rock he always did.

The Promise Hero will headline “Punksgiving” at the Grog Shop. Three other Cleveland bands, Blacklister (celebrating an album release), Muteboy and Gomez Addams, are also on the bill. Admission is $7.
