There’s a million local holiday sales and fairs and bazaars going on this weekend and next — so we don’t want to hear any of our readers saying they had to go to a big box store. One that might be easy to overlook is taking place at one of Cleveland’s hidden treasures that you ought to visit anyway if you haven’t: Rockefeller Park Greenhouse.

It’s easy to get to. It’s immediately south of the Shoreway off the MLK exit. That’s where you’ll find the Poinsetti and Upcycled Art Sale going on for two days. Hosted by the Collingwood Painted Rain Barrel Project, it will feature handmade ornaments, toys, pottery, jewelry, knits such as scarves and handmade bird feeders by artists Michele Biondo, Cyndi Konopka and Linda Zolten Wood, founder of the Painted Rain Barrel Project. Be sure to stop and talk to Linda about how you can get a rain barrel next spring to decorate and do your share to conserve water.

In addition, the greenhouse is packed with poinsettias of all colors; they will be available for sale at the same time. It’s free, and artists are donating a portion of their sales to Friends of the Greenhouse. It’s free, and artists are donating a portion of their sales to Friends of the Greenhouse.
