Learn About the 2016 Station Hope Event @CPTCLE Public Theatre Informational Meeting

StationHope

Sat 11/14 @ 10AM

Station Hope, which launched in 2014, was wildly successful from the get-go. The one-day event at the historic St. John’s Church in Ohio City and the street in front of it had long lines waiting to get into the areas where performances, including theater, dance, music, storytelling and discussion events were going on — all dealing with slavery, social justice and the Underground Railroad. The subject was a perfect fit for the site — St. John’s was a stop on the Railroad as fleeing slaves headed north to Canada.

This year, Cleveland Public Theatre, which coordinates the event, has even bigger plans for it. It will include what it’s calling “The Road to Hope,” featuring smaller pop-up performances and events taking place in different Cleveland neighborhoods in the two months leading up to the big event, which will take place on 4/30/16.

CPT is looking for groups, individuals and organizations interested in participating, either by staging a short (no more than 15 minutes) performance piece or doing an art installation of some kind, either at Stattion Hope or as part of the Road to Hope.

“Performances can range from site-specific plays, actors in character wandering through the event, or your church choir singing,” they say.

If you want to find out more, they’ll be having an informational meeting at Cleveland Public Theatre to talk about the previous two years, the changes being made for the coming year, and the application process. Please RSVP to clewins@cptonline.org by 11/11.
