Family Workshops @GLScienceCtr Offer Hands-On Experiences

GLSC

Sat 11/21 @ 12:30PM

Sun 11/22 @ Noon

There’s lot to walk around and observe at the Great Lakes Science Center. But it’s not just for visiting and looking. The GLSC also has programs provide fun, hands-on activities that offer kids an opportunity to learn more about different aspects of science.

They include the Family Science Workshops, where kids (and their parents) can take a deeper dive into things that might have piqued their interest. On Sat 11/21, “Energy Everywhere” will guide kids in the making of their own battery to power a calculator so they can see for themselves how energy can be harnessed. On Sun 11/22, at “Gaining Traction on Mars,” attendees will work together to create a Mars rover, learning to solve the problems of engineering wheels.

And here’s a good reason to become a member of GLSC. The energy workshop is $30 per person or $15 for members; the Mars rover workshop is $40 but only $20 for members. December workshops will include the chance to make LED holiday snowflake decorations and low-temperature experiments so what are you waiting for?
