There are a lot of lasting partnerships in music, especially jazz. But few are as bonded as the up-and-coming sax and clarinet duo of Peter and Will Anderson, who are twins. Both play clarinet; Peter also plays tenor sax and Will plays alto sax.
The Washington D.C. natives already attracted the attention of the jazz community as teenagers, participating in a variety of international programs for talented young jazz musicians. They both attended Juilliard and then remained based in New York which they’ve used as their base to play prestigious venues such as Jazz @Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and New York’s Highlights in Jazz series. They’ve been busy on the recording front too, releasing four albums, starting with 2012’s Correspondence. Like their latest, last year’s Déjà Vu, it featured many of their own compositions, along with their takes on beloved jazz and Great American Songbook classics.
The duo will make their Cleveland debut at Nighttown accompanied by guitarist Alex Wintz. Tickets are $20.
