Fri 12/4 @ 7PM
Blackbird, Fly: A Concert for Voice, Body and Strings brings together two artists of Haitian parentage: composer/violist Daniel Bernard Roumain aka DBR and spoken-word and theater artist/dancer/educator Marc Bamuthi Joseph. Both bring a hip-hop sensibility to work that addresses cultural, social and political issues filtered through their wide range of artistic experiences and practices.
The new work, premiered last year, is the latest in a series of collaborations for the two artists. It “combines folklore, narrative, music, and movement to engage and explore critical questions about identity, tolerance, and inclusion.”
Roumain and Joseph will perform the work at MOCA Cleveland. Tickets are $25, $20 for MOCA members and Tri-C students with ID.
