VIDEO: Violins of Hope @MaltzMuseum

CoolCleveland visits the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and talks with violin maker Amnon Weinstein and his son Avi, who have spent decades restoring violins played in the Nazi concentration camps. Co-curator and author James A. Grymes helped organize the exhibition, on view at the Maltz Museum through 01.03.16.

The players did not survive, but the violins did.

And now, fully restored, these iconic violins are on exhibition at the Maltz, were featured in the Grand Opening concert at the new Maltz Performing Arts Center at CWRU featuring The Cleveland Orchestra, and are the subject of numerous talks, films and events as part of the Violins Of Hope collaborative project including ideastream, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, and Facing History and Ourselves.
