AkronSymphonyEJThomas

Sat 10/10 @ 8PM

The Akron Symphony kicks off its pops series with music everyone should recognize. It’s featuring some of the best-known work of film composer John Williams, including excerpts from his scores for Superman, Jaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The concert starts at 8pm, but you’ll want to arrive at EJ Thomas Hall early. A costume contest starts at 7pm with a $100 Visa gift card for the winner and a $50 card for the second place costume. The orchestra’s music director Christopher Wilkins, who will be conducting the concert, will be judging the contest. So get an early start on your Halloween outfit. It’s a perfect concert to bring the kids to — they can dress up and they’ll know much of the music already.

Tickets are $25-$55, children/student tickets are $12.50-$27.50.
