The way Halloween is getting to be like Christmas, the kids will wake you up at the crack of dawn, ready to put on their costumes and go out and do …. something.
The morning is too early to trick-or-treat but you can bring them over to Lake Erie Ink in Cleveland Heights — in costume! — for an all-ages workshop titled Monsters in Our Backyard: Tales of the Weird, Wild, and Unexplained.
There, Akron-based author James Renner, a former journalist who now writes novels and true crime stories, will read from his book of strange local tales and legends, It Came From Ohio. Duly inspired (hopefully), participants will work on true or fictional stories inspired by the idea that there’s a monster … nearby …. he’s getting closer … he’s in the backyard ….BOO!
