Legendary British Band @TheZombiesMusic Perform Psychedelic Masterpiece ‘Odyssey & Oracle’ @KentStage

Zombies

Thu 10/15 @ 8PM

Like most British invasion bands, the Zombies had a relatively short lifespan, existing initially from 1961-1968. They went out with a bang, having evolved from the infectious pop hits of 1964, “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No,” to their unexpected posthumous hit with the spooky, unsettling “Time of the Season” in 1969. That song came from their now legendary psychedelic parting shot of an album, 1968’s Odessey & Oracle, released after the band broke up.

Vocalist Colin Blunstone and keyboard player Rod Argent went on to solo careers, and Argent even enjoyed a massive hit “Hold Your Head Up” with his band Argent in 1972. Periodically since the mid ’90s, Argent and Blunstone have gotten the Zombies back together; they’ve had a working lineup since 2011.

But now for the first time ever, the group is touring to perform Odessey & Oracle —which they’ve never done live — along with other Zombie tunes and material from their new, just-released album, appropriately titled Still Got That Hunger. In addition, their ’60s bassist/songwriter Chris White and drummer Hugh Grundy will be with them for the first time since a one-off reunion in 1997.

The group will be performing at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $51-$250.
