Kids love to dream up characters, whether it’s imaginary friends or that powerful superhero they pretend to be as they race around the backyard using a towel as a cape. And many of them love to put their visions down on paper — or would do so if they had some guidance.
Local artist Josh Usmani, who recently had a show at the Tregoning gallery at 78th Street Studios called Funny Money in which he drew riotously colorful visions on paper money, is hosting a class at SPACES Gallery called “Character Creation.” He’ll guide kids in how to make their favorite character — real, imagined or imagined by someone else — come alive on paper.
This class is free and open to all. It’s part of the gallery’s monthly FamilySPACES events, tied into their current exhibitions.
